Lessons start with learning how to catch a pony, using the proper grooming tools, and learning how to tack up the pony. The student will learn the safety of working with a horse as well. Then they will have ride time, they will learn the basic balance position, independence, steering, etc. After riding, the student will then learn to untack, groom, put everything back, and turn out a horse. Students at higher levels of experience will develop their skills of dressage and/or hunter jumping in group or solo lessons. Group lessons can be with friends, children of the same age group, or the same level of riding. Kids of all ages will have opportunities to make new friends, build responsibility, and confidence, and riding also will be an excuse to keep them off their phones and keep them active. We strongly believe in creating a well rounded rider which includes taking care of a horse as well as learning and developing the mechanics of riding.
If you are an adult interested in learning to ride, though maybe you feel that you are too old to learn to ride, I can attest that the entry into the world of Equestrians can begin at any age. It is never too late to begin the thrilling and exciting experience of riding. We are one of the many barns that offer adult lessons to those who wish to learn to care and ride a horse. We prepare our lesson plans based on each riders needs and age is not an issue. Riding a horse is very beneficial and therapeutic, including that it can stimulate the mind, help keep you in shape, and can make a great hobby. We are also involved with the program horse master the adult version of pony club. Come out and give us a chance, we promise you will not regret it!
